helping families in ottawa, canada become self-sufficient contributing members of society
Across Ottawa there are many community services available to assist young parents with the challenges they face:
Industry Canada, through its Community Access Program (CAP), helps us provide Internet access to our alumnae here at the Youville Centre. Under CAP, public locations such as the Youville Centre, act as "on-ramps" to the Information Highway, while also providing computer support and training. The program plays a crucial role in bridging the Digital Divide; contributing to the foundation for electronic access to government services; encouraging on-line learning and literacy; fostering the development of community based infrastructure; and, promoting Canadian e-commerce.
This Community Access Program (CAP) is a Government of Canada initiative, administered by Industry Canada, which aims to provide Canadians with affordable public access to the Internet and the skills they need to use it effectively. With the combined efforts of the federal, provincial and territorial governments, community groups, social agencies, libraries, schools, volunteer groups and the business community, CAP helps Canadians, wherever they live, take advantage of emerging opportunities in the new global knowledge-based economy.
The Community Access Program (CAP) provides us with funds to help purchase computers as well as other electronic equipment and services, such as Internet access, so that our clients can have free access to the Internet and the World Wide Web.
